DoubleClick is a brand of Google, under which mainly special online marketing solutions are marketed to advertising agencies and publishers. DoubleClick uses a cookie ID that is required for the technical process. The cookie ID is needed, for example, to display an ad in a browser. DoubleClick can also use the cookie ID to record which advertisements have already been displayed in a browser to avoid duplicate placements. Conversions are recorded, for example, when a DoubleClick ad has previously been displayed to a user and the user subsequently makes a purchase on the advertiser's website using the same internet browser.
A DoubleClick cookie does not contain any personal data but may contain additional campaign identifiers. A campaign identifier serves to identify the campaigns with which you have already been in contact on other websites. As part of this service, Google learns about data that Google also uses to generate commission statements. Among other things, Google can track that you have clicked on certain links on our website.
